Character Education
Through character education, students learn to understand, care about, and act on core values. Each month, Tuscumbia schools focus on a different character trait to teach students about and celebrate those that put that trait into practice.

The ability to understand and share the feelings of others.

The ability to to show respect for others who are different than you.

The ability to do what is right, even when it is hard.

The ability to be open-minded and willing to explore new experiences and ideas.

The ability to get through difficult tasks without giving up.

The ability to maintain a positive attitude and believe good things will happen.

teen Mental Health First Aid
tMHFA is an evidence-based training program for teens in grades 9-12, or ages 14-18. It teaches teens how to identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges among friends and peers. Teens gain the skills to have supportive conversations with their friends and learn how to get the help of a responsible and trusted adult as necessary. The training is conducted through six 45-minute sessions with sophomore students and typically takes place in the fall semester.
